Biography
The baptism of Cathirine Duncan took place on the 21 Oct 1779 in Gladsmuir, she is the daughter of David Duncan and Margaret Johnstone[1]
The date of marriage to Thomas Chisholm is unknown but is assumed to be around 1804. Thomas being a soldier had various posting and not all the children have surviving baptism records. The children born in Edinburgh and Ardesier are recorded
In 1841 Catherine Chisholm is living in West Port, Edinburgh with her daughter Mary Ann Chisholm, grand daughter Catherine McKay aged 1 and Agnes Broda [2]
In 1851 Catherine Bell aged 72 born in Haddington is listed as the head of the household with daughter Mary Ann Bell aged 30 (both are widowed) and Mary Anns three children, William, Eliza and Thomas. The family are living at West Port in Edinburgh [3]
She died of old age (aged 79) on 11 March 1854 at 11 West Port, Edinburgh[4].

Earlier notes: Catherine Duncan was born in Scotland possibly in 1780[5] or 1771[6] but most likely in 1775.
