Benyew Donham was born about May 1732 in Westfield, Essex, New Jersey.
He married Mary Eliza Heath 2 August 1757, born 23 April 1737 in Staffordshire, England, the daughter of Thomas Heath and Ann Nevins. She died July 1794 Minebrook, Somerset, New Jersey.
Benyew owned a farm in Amboy (1758). In 1762 owned a mill and tannery at Lamington (1762), on the town council of safety (1776) and elected collector for the town of Tewkesbury (1779). He was considered a freeholder from 1770 on.
From 1762 until May 1795, Benyew was a constant salary payer to the church at Lamington.
