Biography

1776 Project
Captain Holtum Dunham Sr. served with 13th Regiment, Albany County Militia, New York Militia during the American Revolution.

Holtum Dunham Sr. is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A034527.

Holtum was born in Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut, on June 14, 1749, the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Dunham.[1] He passed away in 1824.

Holtham Dunham served as a Lieutenant for New York Militia with Colonel Van Schaik. [2]

In 1779, he was taxed in the Saratoga District, Albany County, New York.[3]

In 1781, he was court-martialed for "holding a Correspondence with the Enemy", dismissed from his post, and ordered to be placed in confinement for the remainder of the war.[4]

He was on the 1801 tax list for Saratoga, Saratoga County, New York,[5] the 1802 tax list for Easton, Washington County, New York,[6] and the 1803 tax list for Northumberland, Saratoga, New York.[7]

In 1819, he filed an affadavit in support of a Revolutionary War pension for Reuben Woodworth.[8]

The 1907 Dunham Genealogy gives the following children:[9]
