Annie was born in England in 1873, the daughter of Will Dunkerley and Emma Scholes. After her father's death and her mother's remarriage, in 1888 when she was 15 the family emigrated to British Columbia, Canada. In 1897 she married George Frank Waites and they had one son and seven daughters. She passed away in 1952.
