Mary Sarah Dunkin was born on November 22, 1808, [1]in Ohio.[2] She was the daughter of John Dunkin and Elizabeth Sunderland. She was the 11th child of 12 children.
She married Matthew Scott Brown on October 30, 1847, in Carroll, Indiana.[3] He had been married preivously. They had 2 children.
Mathew owned an 80 acre Farm in Dear Creek Township, Carroll County.
In 1850, they were living there, with his two older sons (from first marriage) Joseph H Brown-18; Albert G Brown-17, and their son Wm Brown-1. A Harriet Dunkin-17, was also in the household.[4] There were still on the farm valued at $6,000, in 1860, with the Post Office as Delphi. By then William was 11 and Mary Ann was 9 years old. [2]
She died on April 8, 1868, in Carroll, Indiana, at the age of 59, and was buried in Bringhurst, Indiana in the Zion Citizens Cemetery.[1]

There apear to be two Mary Polly Duncans. One married to Abraham Clements, and one married as second wife of Mathew Scott Brown. There are two 1850 census showing then each with a wife Mary. Mary would have had children with Clements after married and having two children with M Brown.
