Biography
Private Samuel Dunlap served in the United States Civil War. Enlisted: 6 Jul 1861 Mustered out: April 9, 1865 Side: CSA Regiment(s): Company C, 10th North Carolina Artillery
Samuel was the son of Frank Dunlap and unknown mother. He was born 1843 in York Co., N.C. and was a farmer before he enlisted for service at Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in the Confederate Army 6 Jul 1861.
Samuel served as a Private in Company C, North Carolina Co. A 1st Light Artillery Battery
Co., North Carolina. He served through out the war and was one of only 63 men left in his unit at the end of the Civil War. Samuel was paroled in April 1865 at Appomattox. He died 9 Aug 1924 in Mallard Creek Twp, Mecklenburg, North Carolina and is buried at Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
