Biography

James was born in 1834. Ayrshire, Scotland, Parents being Alex Dunlop and Elizabeth Jamieson.

1856 James marries Elizabeth Dow , Kilmarnock, Ayr, both were 22 years old, Elizabeth occupation was that of a Sewer and James was a Carpet Weaver

The couple had 4 known children they being : Alexander born 1854, kilmarnock Harriet Lindsay born 1858, Kilmarnock John Dow birth year 1863, Milton Glasgow and possibly died 1865 Milton, Glasgow and some years later we have James Jamieson birth year of 1868 also born in Milton, Glasgow.

Between 1858 and 1861 the family have moved from Ayrshire to Glasgow, as found in the 1861 Census in the District of Milton, Address: Water Street, Port Dundas, James Occupation was that of a Carter.

1871 The family are still living in the District of Milton Address: Muse Lane, James Occupation: Van Driver, Their son Alexander who is 14 is working as a Message Boy.

1872 Possibly James has died, : Still to be confirmed, he was not with the family in 1881 and Elizabeth is recorded as a widow.
