Biography

Rev. Samuel Dunlop was born on 12 Feb 1834 in Bangor, Ireland to parents Samuel Dunlop and Elizabeth Allen. He married Catherine Rebecca (Kate) Robinson on 2 Mar 1864 in Dublin, Ireland. Children: Samuel, Edmund Robinson, William David, Thomas Wilson, Anne Brierly, George. He died on 18 Apr 1928 in Bangor, Ireland.

Obituary: "Rev. Dunlop, a Methodist Minister, passed away at age 95, and had a daughter, referred to only as "Miss Dunlop," and three sons, including Mr. David W. Dunlop," whose birth name, I believe, was William David Dunlop. He was known as "The Father of the Conference," and had been a minister for 70 years, 31 years as a "supernumerary." He was in charge of a little church at Rostrevor (Ireland), having previously served in a supernumerary relationship for six years in Portaferry in 1906."
