Alexander Dunn was born in Scotland.

Alexander was born on 23 September 1879 at 15 Castle St, Dumbarton. He was the oldest of six children of Lauchlan Dunn and Jessie Ann (Webster) Dunn. [1]

In 1881 Alexander and his parents are living at 20 Glasgow Rd, Dumbarton,[2]

Alexander sailed from London on 9 May 1885 with his parents and brother James on "Aorangi" arriving in Auckland on 25 June 1885 [3].

In 1910 Alex is living in Manukau Rd, Epsom and working as a butcher, [5] as a carter in 1911 [6] and as a labourer in 1913. [7] In 1914 Alex moved to Trafalgar St Onehunga and became a fireman on t.s.s. Manaia of Northern Steamship Co. [8] [9]

Between 1919 and 1923 Alex moved to Great South Rd, Ellerslie working for New Zealand Railways or as a labourer [10] [11]

By 1931 Alexander had made the move to his last address at Ireland Rd, Panmure [12] [13]

Alexander died at Ireland Rd Panmure on 9 January 1946 and was cremated at Waikumete Cemetery on 11 January 1946. His ashes were scattered in Eucalyptus Glade Waikumete Cemetery. [14] His occupation at death is given as Wood Machinist.
