Mary I. Homeburg, 81, longtime Brush area resident, passed away Tuesday evening, January 8, 2008, at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.
She was born January 11, 1926, in Burlington, KS, to Ralph & Hazel Dunn. On January 1, 1943, Mary married John Homeburg in Fort Morgan, CO.
Prior to retirement, Mary worked as head of the housekeeping department at Sunset Manor Nursing Home for 26 years. Mary attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church before health issues forced her to be homebound. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, sewing, and making dolls and doll clothing. Mary loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, John, of Brush; 3 daughters, Karen Leis and Peggy Baker both of Brush and Lea Ann Homeburg of Fort Lupton, CO; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 11 great – great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, John Robert Homeburg; her brother, Buck Dunn; her step-father, Fred Harbert, and her parents. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 11, 2008, at 11:00 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.[5]
