Biography

Samuel Washington Dunn was born December 23, 1875 in Pierceville, Georgia to father Harrison Dunn of North Carolina and mother Jane Patterson of North Carolina.[1]

Sam Dunn was enumerated as head of the household in Militia Districts 980, 1130, Caldwell, Mobile, Fannin County, Georgia for the June 26, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as a farmer and born January 1876 in Georgia. He had been married for five years and was an owner. Also included in the household are wife Violet Dunn, daughter Etta Dunn and daughter Mary Dunn as seen in an image of the original census.[2]

Sam Dunn was enumerated as head of the household at Mobile, Fannin County, Georgia for the May 10, United States Census, 1910. He was noted as born 1876 in Georgia and had been married fifteen years. He was a farmer on a general farm and an owner as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Lindy Dunn, daughter Eddie Dunn, daughter Mary Dunn, son Will Dunn, son Richard Dunn, daughter Emly Dunn and daughter Amy Dunn.[3]

Samuel Dunn was enumerated as head of the household at Hallow Road, Mobile, Fannin County, Georgia for the January 19, United States Census, 1920. He was noted as born 1877 in Georgia. He was married, an renter and a farmer on a general farm as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Lizzie Dunn, daughter Emily Dunn, son Rishard Dunn, daughter Amie Dunn, son Tomie Dunn, stepson Woodrow Patterson and stepson Roy Patterson.[4]

Samuel Dunn was listed as the father of Ettie May Tankersley who died January 21, 1927 in Oak Hill, Volusia County, Florida. The mother was listed as Malinda Patterson and the husband Thomas Tankersley.[5]

Samuel Dunn was enumerated as head of the household in Oak Hill, Volusia County, Florida for the April 10, United States Census, 1930. He was noted as born 1875 in Georgia and married. He was a renter and a laborer (orange grove) as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Lizzie Dunn, son Tommy Dunn, son St Claire Dunn, son Audalee Dunn, daughter Etta M Dunn, stepson Woodrow Patterson, stepson Roy Patterson and grandson Howard Tankerley.[6]

Samuel Washington Dunn died March 17, 1934 in Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida. He was married. His wife was listed as Lizzie Dunn. His occupation was a laborer and he was living in Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida. He was buried in Edgewater Cemetery in Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida on March 21, 1934.[1]
