Mattie Virginia Whaley Mattie Virginia Whaley, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday June 22, 2006 Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 77 years old. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, June 24, 2006 a Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Ed. Quattlebaum and Rev Dormon Jenkins Officiating. burial will follow in Taylor Assembly of God with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday. Mrs. Whaley was born November 2, 1928 in Duplin County North Carolina and lived the early years of her life there. In 1964 she moved to Dothan. She has been a minister for the past 55 Years and at the time of her death she was a member and pastor of Tumbleton Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Whaley is predeceased by her husband, Prentice Whaley Sr., a son Mackie Whaley and a grandson, Christopher Whaley. Servivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Jackson and Rhonda Whaley, Prentice and Bettie Whaley Jr., Zackrey and Dianne Whaley, all of Dothan; Sammy and Jan Whaley, Columbus Ga., a Daughter and son -in-law, Lovey and Jerry Floyd, Dothan; thirteen grandchildren, several great grand children, and a great great grandchild; a brother and sister-in-law, Moses and Lora Dunn; Several nieces and Nephews also survive.
