Hi!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Shirley Dalton, WikiTree Mentor

Hi Liz, my mother's maiden name was Cook. I have had my DNA tested on Ancestry.com. I don't know the procedure to compare DNA on here. I would like to find out if we are from the same line.

Hi Liz

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Also noticed you made 132 contributions to Wikitree, thank you! Here at WikiTree we like to have our members involved with others; collaboration is key!

Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors?

Why don't you stop by the One Name Studies project, to see if there's already a name study for (surname) going on? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus. They would be happy to get you started.

Again, thanks for volunteering to work on Pre-1700 profiles!

Dorothy, Volunteer Coordinator.

Congratulations, Liz! You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree. To get started, please see: How to Use WikiTree.

The central hub where we share ideas and answer questions is our G2G Forum. It is here you will find the Question of the Week: What is the craziest online genealogy "fact" (really fiction) that you've come across? You may also search for topics of interest and introduce yourself with a post about an ancestor you are researching.

There are numerous ways you may get involved at WikiTree. See the Volunteers Needed page for more information on projects you can contribute to.

Thanks for volunteering and enjoy the journey. --Rod

Hi Liz,

Welcome to WikiTree! The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started.

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?

When you confirm your email address, you’ll be given an opportunity to volunteer to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

We're really glad you're here!
