Biography

Jane Anne Dunne was born in Yass, New South Wales on 17 July 1850 and baptised on 29 July 1850 in the Catholic church at Yass.^[1] She was the daughter of Patrick Dunne and Jane Murphy.

The family moved to Sydney within the following year, prior to the birth of the next child.

Jane Dunn (sic), born at Yass, daughter of Patrick Dunn and Jane Murphy died at 692 George St., Sydney on 6 April 1876 at age 23.^[2]. It is presumed that the reported age at death is incorrect. The address is remarkably close to that of her sister, Mary. It is not known if the two sisters resided in close proximity. It is also possible that Jane, who was an unmarried young woman, may have died at her sister's residence at that her father, who was largely illiterate and therefore probably innumerate, made an error with the street number when reporting the death.
