Note N71Solomon Dunning was born 22 Dec 1828 in Trigg County, Kentucky. He died 5 July 1891 in Jasper, Missouri. He married Narcissa (Narcice) Ann Nichols. They had nine children: Eliza E. Dunning, Mary E. Dunning, Eliza M. Dunning, John F. Dunning, William Ward Dunning, Fountain Brown Dunning, George M. Dunning, Eunice L. Dunning, and Lessie P. Dunning. Solomon was counted in two censuses: 1. 1860 US Federal Census. "Home in 1860: Springfield, Henry, MO." 2. 1880 US Federal Census. "Home in 1880: Badger, Vernon, MO."

The Dunning's fought on both sides of the Civil War, Solomon fought for the Confederacy while his uncles Miles and George fought for the Union.
