Biography

• Stephen was baptised in St. John's, Wilberforce on 12th April, 1859, the day the Church was opened. He has a Memorial Wall Plaque there.
• An Obituary in the Windsor and Richmond Gazette dated 4th October, 1944 reads:

STEPHEN JOHN DUNSTON It is with very deep regret that we record the passing of Mr. Stephen John Dunston, of Wilberforce, on of the most well-known and esteemed citizens of the Hawkesbury district, whose death occurred in the District Hospital on Friday last, 29th September, at the advanced age of 86 years. A brother of the late Joshua ("Dot") and Sarah Dunston, and a son of the late Stephen and Sarah Dunston, he was a member of one of the districts leading families, being the last surviving member of that family, and few have been more widely mourned. He was christened on the day the Church of England at Wilberforce was opened. Some months ago he sustained a severe stroke, from which he did not fully recover, and undoubtedly hastened his regretted death. The funeral took place on the following day (Saturday), when according to his express wishes, the remains were cremated at Rookwood Crematorium, the Rev. H.H. Davison, Wilberforce, performing the last rites. The mortuary arrangements were conducted by Mr. Chandler of Windsor."
