Note, James' middle name is likely to be his mothers as it's an unusual one. Here is his birth with his mother, Ginete Wacher, the phonetics are the same, the spelling may be a transcription error and it is also likely he was a 'base child'. The hard question to answer is which Dunstone was his father, with a strong chance it was a James Dunstone, as other 'base' children I have come across are often named after their father. Presumably to show the link to the birth father. There are Dunstones in the Brighton area at the time also.
Footnote: A James Dunstone died in November 1797 and it is suspected he was the father of James Washer Dunstone. A later census shows Diana and James at the residence of an uncle of the James Dunstone who died in 1797 which may show the Dunstone family's acceptance of the child James Washer Dunstone.
