Jane was born in 1836 in New York. She was married to Alfred Tatro by 1860 and living in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin. Since her first two children, were born in New York, the couple must have also been married there. The family later moved to Spencer, IA. After the death of her husband, Jane lived with her daughter, Hattie and Hattie's two sons. She passed away in 1917. Jane had been educated 8 years and was a member of the Methodist Church.
