Jean was born on December 7, 1791 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, United States.[1] His parents are Francois Dupré and Catherine Roy.[1][2] According to Andrew J. Vieau, Sr., Dupré became the successor and head of a French School operated by John B. Jacobs located on claim No. 10 - the City of Fort Howard now part of Green Bay[1] He was baptized on December 7, 1791 at Saint Anne de Detroit, Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, USA.[3] He was living in Green Bay (City of Fort Howard) in 1830 and 1940[4][5] He was living in De Pere in 1850 with wife Agathe and son Thomas[6] He was living in Lawrence in 1860 with his daughter Rosalie Gerardin (Duprey), now a widower[7]

He married Agathe Ulrich on August 3, 1819.[8] They had 6 children:
On 14 Apr 1814, Jean enlisted in the United Sates Army in the war of 1812.[1][11][12][13]
Death
He died on October 25, 1865 in Lawrence, Brown, Wisconsin, United States.[14][15]
