NECROLOGY - GRANDMA CARTIER PASSES PEACEFULLY AWAY AT HER HOME IN RUSHSEBA

Mrs. Richard Cartier had reached the venerable age of 74 years. She was married to Mr. Cartier 56 years and 8 months ago. She was the mother of 11 children, 73 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children, She was the light of the neighbourhood in which she lived and for years "Grandma Cartier" was a household term among her friends and neighbours. They had lived in Rushseba 28 years in what is known as the French Settlement. She was born in St. Anicet, Montreal, CANADA in 1832 and died at her home in Rushseba August 04, at 10 o'clock p.m. She was sick 18 days with a paralytic shock. Also niece and nephew Mrs. LaBrosse and Napoleon Quesnel of Dulth were present at the funeral. The funeral service consisting of Solemn High Mass was held at the church of the Scared Heart, and Rev. Father Genis of White Bear assisting Father Kennedy in the obsequies. The pall-bearer were Peter Corrier, Luke Corrier, Adolph Caza, Frank Gorham, George Menard and Joseph Christian (american version of Chretien) . She was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery. Revered as a loving wife, a dutiful and kind mother and a respected neighbour. She will be mourned by all and the memory of her kind deeds and duties will be a rich legacy to her large family.
