Biography
Salvador was born on 26 Sep 1740 and baptized the next day as Salbador Antonio Fernandez Durán in his native town of Noya, Galicia. He was the son of Santiago Antonio Fernandez Durán and Cecília Thomé (abt.1700-). His godfather was Francisco Benedito Fernandez Boán (abt.1690-). [1] He was baptized as Salbador António but never used the name Antonio or the surname of Fernandez throughout his life in Portugal.
He married D. Mariana Teresa Peregrina da Visitação Xispes de Queirós on 26 June 1759 in Ajuda. The witnesses at the wedding were none other than the powerful Secretary of State of King José I, Tomé Joaquim da Costa Corte-Real and his son, Pedro Alvares da Costa Corte-real e Melo. [2]
