Biography

Son of Herbert Bernard and Mae Matoushek Durbin. ^[1][2]

Obituary

Mr. Durbin was the Manager of Haag Drugs in Marion for 10 years. He also owned and operated, with his wife, the Durbin Hardware in Wabash for 10 years. Most recently he was the Weights and Measures Inspector for Wabash and Kosciusko Counties from 1984 until 1996. Mr. Durbin was a U.S. Army veteran during WWII serving in Europe and Japan . He was also the recipient of the Bronze Star.

Mr. Durbin was born on January 10, 1926 in St. Louis , MO a son of H. Bernard and Mae (Matoushek) Durbin. He was married to June Curley on Sept. 14, 1949 in Louisville , Ky. She preceded him in death in 1972. Robert then married Norma "Sue" Ness on February 14, 1975 in Marion , she survives.

Additional Survivors include: a daughter, Pamela Oldach of Cedar Rapids , Iowa ; a son, Daniel Durbin of Richmond , Va. ; two step-daughters, Vicki Ness Thompson of Waterloo, and Lorraine Ness of Fort Wayne; two step-sons, Kim Ness of Huntington , and Paul Ness of Fishers. Five grandchildren, Bryan Ness, Craig Ness, Greta Oldach, Leah Ness and Abbey Ness; a sister, Ruth Schafer of Ballwin, Mo.; a brother, Herbert Durbin of Highland, Ill.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Michele Durbin and two brothers, Howard Durbin and James Durbin.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St. , Huntington .

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel with Pastor Robert Gonser officiating.

Interment will take place in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery , Huntington . ^[1]
