Biography

George B. Durbin was the son of Christopher K. and Rachel Willis Durbin. [1] He was born circa 1816 in Kentucky. [2][3]

He married Eleanor _______ Rutan. [1][2] Eleanor had three children from a previous marriage, Archibald, Nancy, and John. [1]

In 1850, the family lived in Marshall County, Iowa, where George farmed. [3]

At the time of the 1860 US Census, George and Eleanor lived in Miami Township, Montgomery, Ohio. In their household were children: Jane, 17; David, 14; George W., 6; Joseph, 3. All of the children were born in Iowa.[4] (Note: Son, James, may have been mistakenly enumerated as "Jane," a female.)

By 1870, George and Eleanor had moved and were living in the village of Springborough in Clearcreek Township, Warren County, Ohio. [5]

In 1880, George and Eleanor were living alone in Walnut, Montgomery, Indiana. [2] Their son, George W. was also living in Montgomery County.[6]
