Christopher was born in 1832. He passed away in 1880.

Civil War Service

Christopher Durbin was drafted into the Union Army for one year on September 24, 1864. He was mustered in at Owensboro on October 8, 1864, and assigned to Company K, 23rd Kentucky Infantry. He was 31 years old, 5 ft. 8 1/2 inches tall and had a fair complexion, blue eyes and light hair.
Christopher was taken ill in December 1864 and absent from his Company. From February 1865 to April 1865 he was in a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. It appears he never returned to his unit. He was listed on the casualty sheet of his Company, and the casualty sheet he had been discharged for a disability. There is no indication if he had been wounded in battle or had been ill.[1]

Notes

The 23rd Kentucky Infantry was organized at Camp King in Lexington, Kentucky and mustered in for a three-year enlistment on January 2, 1862 under the command of Colonel Marcellus Mundy. The 23rd Kentucky Infantry mustered out of service on December 27, 1865.[3]
