Biography

Nathaniel was probably the eldest son of Thomas and Elizabeth Durkee,[1] probably born about 1701.

Nathan[ie]ll Durkee was married to Mary Baker in Windham, Connecticut, on 21 August 1727.[2] The Durkee newsletter gave the date of marriage as 11 August 1727.[1]

He and his family moved to Woodbury, Connecticut, c. 1737. [1]

Captain Nathaniel Durkee made his will at Woodbury, Connecticut on 21 February 1760. It was proved on 26 March 1760 (indicating that he died between these two dates). In the will he stated that he had distributed his real estate to his children. Heirs to his personal estate named in the will were his wife Mary Durkee and sons Jedidiah Durkee and Timothy Durkee. After his death, his son Nathan Durkee, a minor, chose his brother Jedidiah to be his guardian.[3]

Durkee-90 and Durkee-4 appear to represent the same person because: These are two of three profiles created to represent Nathaniel Durkee of Ipswich, Massachusetts, who married Mary Baker and died in 1760. Birth years vary, and not all of the profiles have the same other details, but all of the details that they have in common match (father Thomas Durkee, death in Woodbury, Conn., etc.), so it appears that all of them are intended to represent the same person.
