David was born in 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of David Andrew Durkee and Margaret Enos Price (1884-1965).[1]
In 1930, the Durkee family lived at 833 S. 8th West, Salt Lake City, Utah. They owned their house, valued at $3500, and they also had a radio. All members of the household were born in Utah. The household included David A. Durkee, 44, whose father was born in NY, mother b. UT, brakeman for a steam railroad, not a veteran, who married at age 21; his wife Margaret, 45, parents b. Wales, who married at age 22; and their son Andrew D., 6, in school.[2]
In 1940, they lived at 1389 S. Fifth East, Salt Lake City. They owned this house, valued at $4600. The household included David A. Durkee, 55, who had completed two years of high school, a brakeman for a steam railroad, who earned $3000 in 1939; his wife Margaret, 55, who completed the eighth grade; and their son David A., Jr., 16, who completed three years of high school.[3]
David married Renee Leigh in 1947. They had one son, David Leigh Durkee. David Sr. died in 1966. David and his wife Renee are buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery, SLC, SL, Utah. [4]
