Biography

Anna was born in 1837, the daughter of Samuel Durni and Sophie Gauchat. ^[1]

On 23rd September 1859, she married Gabriel Frederick Anker (1836-1908) in Ins, Bern, Switzerland ^[2]

They had at least 11 children:

DEATH.

ANKER.—On the 28th inst., at Euroa, Anna Maria Margaret Anker, relict of the late Gabriel Frederick Anker and mother of Samuel, Frederick, Godfrey, John, Charles, Albert, William, and Mary Anker, Mrs. S. Hammond, and Mrs. C. Graham. Aged 72½ years.

In sharp contrast with the case reported above is the death of Mrs A. M. Anker, relict of the late Gabriel P. Anker, Strathbogie. Although 72 years of age, deceased was an active, bustling woman, enjoying good health and strength. On Monday, in consequence of sudden indisposition, medical aid was sought but death resulted within 24 hours, the cause being intestinal obstruction followed by heart failure. Deceased came with her husband from the Geelong district to Strathbogie many years ago, but latterly had lived a retired life at Euroa. She leaves a family of seven sons and three daughters, all grown up, and taking their parts in developing the state. The high esteem felt for them and deceased was shown by the large attendance at the funeral ceremonies yesterday afternoon under the supervision of Mr' O'Neill. The Rev J. E. Warren, assisted ty Mr W. T Harrison, officiated at the grave. ^[4]
