St. Clair Durocher was born Sinclair Durocher, the son of Laurent Durocher and Angelique Robert. At ages 7-15 (according the the 1850 and 1860 census records) he lived on his family's farm in Frenchtown, Monroe, Michigan.
From 1861 to 1865 Sinclair served in the military, on the Union side, Company K,
167th Regiment, Ohio Infantry (National Guard), in the rank of Private.
At age 24, on Aug 19, 1869 Sinclair married 17 year old Sarah L. Suttle. Sadly, she and their first son George, age 1, died of Scarlet Fever in October 1874; She died first, on the 12th and George passed away 5 days later.
Sinclair married for a 2nd time, at age 34, on Oct 11, 1880. This time he married 18 year old Adeline Duval. They had a son who died April 6, 1882. The following children were:
Son John Laurent born 25 August 1883
Son Robert P. born 30 September 1886
Daughter Clair 3 Jul 1887
Another son, unknown birthdate, who died as an infant, May 08, 1889, and lastly, a son Milo St. Clair Durocher, who died at 2 1/2 months of age of infantile cholera.
Adeline died 19 Oct 1899, at age 36.
In 1890, the records show Sinclair, age 46, living in Ohio at a United States National Homes for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers facility due to his infirmity.
The next record causes some confusion, as it is the 1900 U. S. Census, showing Sinclair at age 57 (disabled) living with son John, age 17, in Monroe.
The following summer, on August 14, 1901, Sinclair (age 56) marries his third wife, Mary Cousino who is 50 years old. It is unclear when Mary died, but Sinclair married again, on Nov 18, 1907.
At age 65, Sinclair married 4th wife Emma Courchaine, age 47. At age 68, at the time of the 1910 census, Sinclair and Emma, along with Sinclair's son John, now age 26, are living in Toledo, Ohio.
