Obituary:
MRS. E.L. WHITING DIES MONDAY NIGHT
Mrs. Ethel Louise Whiting, 63, wife of Harry E. Whiting of 35 Arthur Avenue, died last night at Cortland County Hospital where she has been a patient about seven weeks.
She was born in Cuba, N.Y., on March 8, 1888, the daughter of William and Hattie Richardson Dutcher. A resident of Cortland most of her life, Mrs. Whiting has been employed as a weaver at Wickwire Brothers for the past eight years. She was a member of the Spiritualists Sacred Temple of Harmony Church. She was married to Harry Whiting on July 9, 1907, in Cortland.
Surviving are her husband; a sister, Mrs. Marie Murphy of Buffalo; two brothers, Arthur C. Dutcher of Syracuse and Floyd P. Dutcher of Cortland; two half-brothers, Harry L. Ballard of Syracuse and Jesse D. Ballard of Binghamton; four grandchildren Preston, Phyllis, Lillian and Mildred Whiting, all of Cortland.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Earle W. Wright Funeral Home. Rev. Mae Merritt of Binghamton will officiate. Interment will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 Wednesday evening.

According to her granddaughter, Lillian, Ethel was a mean woman. Lillian didn't enjoy being around her grandmother. Her grandmother was a occultist involved in the Spiritualists Sacred Temple of Harmony Church.
