Biography

This profile is part of the Dutton Name Study.
Abel was a farmer.

Abel was born about 1784. He was the son of Abel Dutton and Eunice Unknown. In the 1800 census of his father Abel there are two males under ten which would have been John and Hezekiah. There are two 16-25 so Abel would have to have been born by 1786. I do not know who the other male is. Perhaps he died between the 1800 census and the will being written in 1801. In his father's will, he is the first mentioned which probably meant he was the oldest.

He married Mariah Pettyjohn. Their children were James, Sarah, Robert, Levin P., William, Mary Jane, Louisa, and Araminta.

Abel wrote his will on 11 March 1849 at which time he stated he was not well and left a tract of land to be rented to pay his debts. When the debts were paid, the land was to go to his son Levin P. Dutton and his heirs. Levin was also the executor of the will.[1]

He passed away in April1849.
