François du Ponthaut was born about 1670. He was the son of Guillaume Duval and Marie Giquelle.

Marriage
François Duval, aged 22 per the record, and Marie Anne Boucher, aged 17, were married on 21 Jan 1692 at Notre-Dame-de-Liesse in Rivière-Ouelle, Canada, Nouvelle-France.[2][3] François gave his origin as du Ponthaut, Bretagne. (This would appear to be Le Ponthou in Brittany)

Death
François Duval died after 12 Jan 1745 when he and his wife Marie Anne Boucher were still living in L'Islet, Canada, Nouvelle-France. On 12 Jan 1745, his son, François, was issued an ordinance by the Intendant Gilles Hocquart to pay his parents a pension of 27 livres and 5 sols per year. The Intendant had issued Francois' son Augustin a similar ordinance on 14 June 1744.[5]
