Biography

Rachell Belt was born circa 1760, in Prince George's County, the daughter of Tobias Belt and Mary L. (Gordon) Belt. On June 17, 1785, in Prince George's County, Rachell married Elisha Duvall, born in Queen Ann's Parish, Prince George's county, Maryland, the son of Samuel Duval(l) and Mary (Higgins) Duval. [1]

Rachell and Elisha were the parents of one daughter, Sophia Duvall, who married James Marriott. Elisha did not live to see his daughter reach maturity, however. He died prior to September 12, 1787, when Rachell married secondly, John Lucas. [2]
