Nelson was born in Belmont, Ohio in 1815. He married Hannah Holland (also listed as Cofflan or Coffman) in about 1837 (marriage record needed). The family is listed in Ohio on the 1840 Census[1], the 1850 Census[2], and the 1860 Census.[3] By the time of the 1880 Census they are listed in the Lafayette District of Pleasants, West Virginia.[4] He passed away in June of 1891 at the age of 75.[5][6]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Nelson by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Nelson:
Dye-144 and Dye-118 are not ready to be merged because: No, parents and dates are all different. This could be an error on one or the other, but it would need research to decide if they are really not just two similar men, rather than the same man.
Also, no spouse or children attached to provide any clue.
Well this is one of those things that just drives me up the wall about arbitrary WikiTree rules that get decided by weak opinion committee somewhere along the way, but often fail to consider much downside to the rule. My inclination is to simply reject this merge, to get out from under the time rush of that rule. But I preferred to simply put it into the Unmerged Match bucket instead, as a reminder that at some point, it is close enough in data to deserve research.
However, if I need to reject and lose that convenient reminder for all eternity, just to comply with a rush rule, then I will do that, and move on to other things instead.
Dye-144 and Dye-118 do not represent the same person because: These are close, but not exact, and the parents are completely different. So a merge would destroy that identity and lineage trail.
One bio mentions a spouse, so the other bio needs research to find out if that other Nelson actually existed.
