Biography

George Sater Dyer is the third son of Caleb Dyer and Rebecca (Howard) Dyer. His father, Caleb Dyer was of English descent, a soldier of the Revolutionary War, and a well-to-do stock raiser.

In March 1832, George's brother Benjamin Dyer and his wife, Martha Logue Dyer migrated to the Arkansas Territory and located on Frog Bayou Creek, at the present site of Mountainburg. When their father, Caleb died, thier mother Rebecca came with nine other children, including George, and traveled to Arkansas. Some traveled by flat bottom boat, while others traveled across the country in wagons, driving the horses, mules and cattle. Rebecca and her children settled in the wilderness, next door to her son, Benjamin. In 1835, Benjamin died from exposure. Rebecca not only reared her own children, but helped her daughter-in-law, Martha Logue Dyer raise her children (Rebecca's grand-children) as well.

Rebecca's second son, Joel married Sarah Talkinton, whose parents had settled across the mountains on Little Mulberry Creek.

George, the third son, crossed the ridge of the mountain, between his mother's homestead and his brother, Joel's homestead, at "The Narrows" at Van Buren, Arkansas, where the county seat is now located.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with George by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with George:

Dyer-10144 and Dyer-10074 appear to represent the same person because: Same three names, exact location and matching time lines.

I think that George Sater Dyer was older than Catherine Bean and that she was his second wife. Will continue to research. See additional information under Dyer-10074 profile
