Biography

Nancy was born around 1815. Notes typed by Frank Korns Lightfoot Sr., say she was born in 1817 in Briston (probably Bristol) TN. According to her Find-A-Grave profile, she moved with her parents to Edgar Co. Illinois, and was there married to Mr. Harrison Lightfoot in 1837. In 1856 the Lightfoot family moved to Putnam county, Missouri. She passed away in 1904.[1]

She is buried in Lemonville Cemetery, Lemons. Putnam County, Missouri, USA. The inscription on the tombstone reads: Elizabeth Lightfoot, Died Feb, 2, 1904 Aged 88Y 3M 11D

According to the 1880 Census, both of her parents were from Virginia.

Research Notes

BLM Records list 3 members of a Dyer family buying land in Edgar County Illionois in 1837 and 1838. Mary and Hugh Dyer buy adjoining 40 acre plots in Section 13 of Township 14N range 11W on 3/18/1837. This may not be the same Hugh Dyer, but there are autosomal DNA matches between the descendants of Nancy Elizabeth and the descendants of Charles Dyer. DNA matches also indicate connections to William Dyer and Samuel Otto Dyer.

A Joel Dyer purchases 40 acres in the NW¼ quarter of the SE¼ quarter of Section 18 in Township 014N Range 010W on September 20, 1838. This could be Joel Dyer the presumed son of William Dyer, but is more likely to be Joel Dyer. Note that this Joel Dyer, about 4 years older than Elizabeth, also claims to be from Tennessee and/or Kentucky similar to Elizabeth. He could potentially be Nancy Elizabeth's brother. Some Descendants of Charles and Mary Hurst 1755-1831 lists a Joel Dyer (C4) as a possible descendant of Charles Dyer.

A Daniel Dyer purchased land in neighboring Clark County in 1831 and 1832 [2] Deed records of Clark County Illinois show Daniel Dyer selling the land[3]

The Edgar County Deed Books may contain more clues.

Deed books of Sullivan County TN might contain clues.
