Source: Mother of Tensaw Settlement Survivors Margaret (Dyer) Powell and Martha (Dyer) Weatherford by Deanna M. Slappey, National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Vol. 99, No. 1, Pages 43-59, March 2011, National Genealogical Society, Arlington, Virginia

Birth abt 1749, location unknown, parents unknown. The 1789 census lists him as age 40 (Slappey, p. 46).

Reuben purchased land in Georgia in 1776, and sold it in 1779 (Slappey, p. 47). His next known appearance was in the 1789 Spanish census in West Florida.

Marriage: Married Mary Cussins (Cousins) sometime before or during 1783, as the Spanish record of their children would show illegitimate if unmarried (Slappey, p. 46).

Reuben and Mary had seven children. There are no other known spouses, nor any known record of other children. He did NOT marry "Mary Hollinger." This mistaken assertion was debunked by in 2011. There were connections between Dyers and Hollingers in later generations (Slappey, p. 51-53).

Death: Reuben died between 1803-1810 (Slappey, p. 47).
