When James Dyer was born on August 20, 1827, in Henderson County, Tennessee, his father, Robert Joseph Dyer, was 35 and his mother, Frances (Lassiter) Dyer, was 25.
He married Sarah J. White in about 1845 and they had six sons and five daughters between 1846 and 1862, all apparently born in Henderson County.[1][2][3][4][5] He was a life-long farmer.
He died on July 28, 1903, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried in Henderson, Tennessee.[6][7]
