When Nancy Dyer was born on September 5, 1798, in Kentucky, her father, John Dyer, was 38, and her mother, Melvinnie Lavina (Morton) Dyer, was 31. Her parents moved from Kentucky to Williamson County, Tennessee between her birth date and 1807. She married Dougold G. Ferguson on September 5, 1820, in Williamson County, Tennessee.[1][2][3] The couple moved from Williamson County to Henderson County, Tennessee between 1820 and 1824. [4] She died on December 15, 1852, in Henderson County, Tennessee, at the age of 54, and was buried in the Mt. Gilead Church Cemetery near Lexington, Tennessee.[5]
Comments
The first two marriage records document the marriage bond. The third record establishes the date of marriage as 5 Sept 1820.
There is a discrepancy in the birth location between the 1850 Census (Kentucky) and Find-a-Grave (Virginia).
Research Notes
Son, Allen, is probably an error even though he is in both FamilySearch and MyHeritage. His birth date is 8 years before the date of marriage for his parents, and his mother would have only been 14 years old when he is born. The 12 year period between the birth of Allen and the birth of James, the second child, would provide additional evidence that there is an error here. Therefore, Allen is not included as a child of John and Melvinnie Dyer.
