His grandson's memory of him (up to the age of 7) - after a span of 65 years:
He was a pleasant man of slim stature who seemed to care a lot for his two grandchildren, whom he would let gather eggs from the henhouse, pick apples from the trees, and gather vegetables from the good-sized garden, but who had to wait until he was present before they could enter the barn... lest the horse kick one of them. The grandson has fond memories of two buggy rides he took alone with his grandfather and being allowed to hold the reins. One, a sylvan scene, along a narrow buggy path through quiet woods, with grass on either side of the wheel tracks as well as in the middle. The other was down a dirt road, through a covered bridge and on to a nearby town where they visited with
friends (probably in-laws) who made a lot of the young man.
Medical Problems: Cancer - resulting in his taking his own life at age 79.
Kennebec Probate 36577, May 19, 1959.
