Note: Baptism Records 1794-1848. PANB Microfilm. Provincial Archives - New Brunswick, Can, Fredericton, NB, Date of entry: 23 Aug 1999. Dec 1, 1808 Jannat McNaughton daughter of Stephen Dyer born ___ Calais. From Film #27 @ St.Stephen,NB Public Library. No birth date given.
Does the fact that she has a given name McNaughton and no birth date given in the written record (whereas others have dates of birth as well as baptism) suggest she was born out of wedlock to a woman named McNaughton, fathered by Stephen Dyer. The name James McNaughton appears on an 1822 Ludlow Parish NB Tax assessment list along with Samuel Mooers [JP]
