Elkanah was the son of Elkanah Dyer and Catherine Brooks
Elkanah married Sarah Hatch on November 27, 1806, when he was 21 years old.[2]
Elkanah served in the War of 1812 in the military in Massachusetts.
Elkanah died 7 March 1863 and is buried in East New Portland Cemetery, New Portland, Somerset County, Maine, United States with a death date of March 1863 and his inscription lists his age as 77 years and 10 months.[3]
