In 1880, Manford is a 29 y/o (b. Abt. 1851) married laborer living with his wife Lucy (22 y/o b. Abt 1858) and son Edgar Horatio (3 y/o b. Abt 1877) and her Grandparents Thomas Lewis (Farmer, 1806-1893) and Caroline (Sawtelle) Lewis (Keeping House, 1809-1862) in dwelling no. 259 in South Thomaston, Knox, Maine. [6]
In 1883, Capt. Manford Dyer with his Schooner (Family tradition names it the Schooner Norton) helped to raise the sunken Schooner "Ella Rose": In 1906-7 his house was listed in city directory in "house guide".[7]
In 1892, Manford is found captaining the American Schooner Maynard Suniner upon its arrival in Boston, apparently bound for Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe. His features are described at 41 y/o as 5'10", fair complexion, dark hair and eyes.[8]
In 1900, Manford is a 50 y/o (b. May 1850) married Sea Captain living with his wife Lucy, 42 and son Edgar H Dyer, 22 in house #3 in South Thomaston, Knox, Maine. Of interest, he can read and write and they own their own home w/o mortgage. [9]
In 1910, Manford is a 59 y/o (b. Abt 1851) Restaurant Proprietor living with his wife, 52 and a Myrtle E, Smith, 17 ( border, working at the restaurant) at 20 "Elen" presuming Elm St in Rockland, Ward 4, Knox, Maine [10]
Manford sadly lost his wife Lucy, 17 Feb 1819 at their home at 20 Elm Street in Rockland. She was 60 y/o with a cause of death Cerebral Haemorrhage, duration 26 hours. [11]See also Knox County Probate 8261.
By 1920, Manford has moved to Danvers, Essex, MA where his son went to work at the shoe factory years before. He is one of two tenant/roomers in the home of Mr and Mrs James Morrissey on Page St. His name is inadvertently listed as Dwyer on the Census Document.[12]
Manford passed 8 Mar 1924 at 75 years old. His residence at that time was 139 Holten St in Danvers. Cause of death was a Cerebral Hemorrhage. Informant at the time was son Edgar Dyer. Manford was buried in Holten Street Cemetery 11 Mar 1924.[13][14]
