Notes
Note: MSA: Jordan Memorial p 291; VR Pejepscot & Danville ME; Rep. Journal;
Proof of Lemuel's parentage has not been found, but James Dyer and his first wife Mary Marriner appear likely to be.his parents (Lora A W. Underhill, "Descendants of Edward Small and the Allied Families " rev. ed 1934., 3 vols 3;1335. James Dyer had a brother Lemuel and Lemuel named a daughter Annar, probably after Annar (Small) Dyer, the third wife of James who must have raised Lemuel.
In additon, James Dyer was the second family enumerated after James Leach in the 1790 census of Cape Elizabeth and it is believed that James had several unrecorded children by his first wife.
"Died, in Pejepscot, 1st inst., Mr. Lemuel Dyer, aged 53 years, after a short but painful illness, which he bore with patience and christian fortitude having strong confidence in the redeemer of whom he had professed to follow for twenty years. By this dispensation of providence, his wife is deprived of a kind and affectionate husband, his children of a tender parent, and society of a valuable & worthy member". (Easter Argus)
Parents were married 11 November 1744 in Falmouth, Cumberland, Maine [3]
