Note: Zaccheus A. Dyer was educated in the common schools and at the high school of New Sharon. When he reached 26 years of age, he bought fifty acres of land and began his career as a farmer. By careful management, he increased his holdings to three hundred and twenty five acres of well cultivated land. He served as Deputy Sheriff in New Sharon from 1860 to 1870, and Sheriff from 1870 to 1876. He was a member of the Legislature of 1878 and 1879.
