Biography

William Fletcher Dysart was born in 1826.

The 1850 U.S. Federal Census records William F. Dysart, age 24 born in NC, living with his mother Mary Dysart, age 50 born in NC. In the household are his siblings: Jane age 30, James age 26, Ann age 23, and Samuel age 14.[1]

William F. Dysart married Cecilia Davis October 7, 1855 in McDowell Co., North Carolina.[2]

The 1860 U.S. Federal Census records W.F. Dysart, a farmer age 34 born in NC and his wife Celia Dysart, age 35 born in NC, living in Dysartville, McDowell Co., North Carolina. In their household are son William age 2 and son Whitson age 6 months. Next door is his mother Mary Dysart and sister Ann Dysart.[3]

The 1870 U.S. Federal Census records William F. Dysart, a farmer age 44 born in NC, and his wife Celia Dysart, age 45 born in NC, living in Dysartsville, McDowell Co., North Carolina. In their household are William age 12 at school, Whitson L. age 10 at school, John S. age 8, and Joseph F. age 4. Additionally there is a farm laborer named Rachel Gurly age 16.[4]

The 1880 U.S. Federal Census records William F. Dysart, a farmer age 54 born in NC, and his wife Cela, age 55 born in NC, living in Dysartsville, McDowell Co., North Carolina. In their household are son William age 22, son Whitson L. age 20, son John S. age 17, son Joseph F. age 14, and mother Mary Patton age 81 born in NC. Cela is recorded with a fever and mother Mary is disabled.[5]
