Biography

Henrietta Dysart, daughter of William Dysart and his wife Mary Moore Dysart, was born July 15, 1822 in McDowell Co., North Carolina.[1]

Henrietta Dysart and F.A. James were issued a marriage bond on September 2, 1843 in McDowell Co., North Carolina. The bond was witnessed by A(lexander) D. Glass and A.M. Finley, Clerk.[2][3]

The 1850 U.S. Federal Census records F.A. James, a tailor age 35 born in NC, and his wife Henrietta, age 29 born in NC, living in McDowell Co., North Carolina. In their household are the following children, all born in NC: Martha A. age 5, Henrietta age 3, David age 2, and Sarah age 3/12.[4]

The 1860 U.S. Federal Census records F.A. James, a tailor age 48 born in NC, and his wife Henrietta, age 40 born in NC, living in Forsyth Co., Georgia, Post Office at Cumming. In their household are the following children all born in NC: Martha age 18, David age 11, Sarah A. age 8, Mary age 7, William age 5, Harritte age 3, and Melvina age 2.[5]

The 1870 U.S. Federal Census records Francis A. James, a farmer age 54 born in NC, and his wife Henrietta age 49 born in NC, living in Dysartville, McDowell Co., NC. In their household are: David age 21, Harriet age 15, William age 14, Evaline age 10, Samuel age 7, and Robert age 5. All were born in North Carolina.[6]

The 1880 U.S. Federal Census records Francis A. James, a tailor age 64 born in NC, and his wife Henrietta age 55 born in NC, living in Hickory, Catawba Co., North Carolina. In their household are son Samuel, age 18 born in NC, and daughter Eveline, age 21 born in NC.[7]

Henrietta James died August 9, 1886 in Catawba Co., North Carolina and was buried in the Old City Cemetery now known as Robinson Park Cemetery, Hickory, Catawba Co., North Carolina. Her son Samuel L. James is also buried there.[8]
