Biography

Benjamin Quincy Dysart, youngest son of Cornelius and Mary Elizabeth (Heywood) Dysart, was born December 9, 1892 at the family home in Granville, Putnam Co., Illinois.[1][2][3]

The 1900 U.S. Federal Census records Cornelius W. Dysart, age 53 born Jan 1847 in IL, as a widower working as a farmer living in Granville, Putnam Co., Illinois. In his household are his daughter Lucy M. age 24 born July 1875 in IL, son William J. age 22 born Oct 1877 in IL, son John P. age 19 born Aug 1880 in IL, son Leslie C. age 17 born Nov 1882 in IL, son Charlie age 15 born Aug 1884 in IL, son Howard L. age 13 born Nov 1886, son Bennie A. age 7 born Dec 1892 in IL. Additionally in the household is a servant Lena Hanson age 16 born June 1883 in Sweden.[4]

Benjamin Quincy Dysart from Granville, Ill, after graduating from high school, attended the University of Illinois from 1912-1916. He was registered in the science department and in 1916 was still a student with Granville, Illinois considered his home.[5] He continued his education at the University of Illinois Medical School, where he graduated in 1918. He was united in marriage with Minnie Munnis on May 18, 1918 at LaSalle, Illinois.[6] Following service in the Navy Medical Corp. during World War I, Dr. B.Q. Dysart set up his medical practice in Bureau, Illinois and then later moved to Henry, Illinois.

Dr. Benjamin Dysart died July 29, 1952 in Yakima, Yakima Co., Washington.[7] The family had been vacationing in California and the Western Coast region visiting with various family relations and friends when Dr. Dysart became ill and was hospitalized. Following his death, his body was returned to his home and he was buried in Granville Cemetery, Granville, Putnam Co., Illinois.[8]
