Her paternal grandfather was Alexander Dysart (1768-1827)[sic] who married Eleanor Patterson (1769-1827) in Lancaster County in 1794. That same year he received a land warrant located in what is now Sinking Valley, Blair County. Alexander Dysart is buried in the Sinking Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery. On her mother's side, Sarah was descended from Edward Bell, iron master, inventor, owner of enormous tracts of coal and timber land.
