Biography

John Dysart son of Benjamin Dysart was baptized at Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg, Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania between April 11, 1815 and April 9, 1816 (most likely in early months of 1816.[1]

“John Disert” and “Meary Carray or Carnay” were married on October 23, 1839 by A.M. Fulton, M.G. in Franklin Co., Ohio.[2]

The 1850 U.S. Federal Census records “John Dyser”, age 50 born in PA, as a farmer living in Truro, Franklin Co., Ohio. In his household are Mary age 38 born in Ireland, John C. age 10 born in OH, Jane age 8 born in OH, William age 6 born in OH, Samuel A. age 4 born in OH, and Albert age 1 born in OH.[3]

The 1860 U.S. Federal Census records “John Desert”, age 48 born in PA, as a farmer living in Jefferson Township, Franklin Co., Ohio. In his household are Mary age 37 born in Ireland, Nancy age 17 born in OH, William age 15 born in OH, Samuel A. age 12 born in OH, Albert age 10 born in OH, Franklin age 7 born in OH, and Scott age 2 born in OH.[4]

The 1870 U.S. Federal Census records John Dysart, age 54 born in PA, as a farmer living in Truro, Franklin Co., Ohio. In his household are Mary age 47 born in Ireland, William age 24 born in OH, Frank P. age 17 born in OH, Scott age 12 born in OH, Albert age 20 born in OH, Anna age 8 born in OH, and Elmer age 4 born in OH.[5]

The 1880 U.S. Federal Census records John Dysart, age 65 born in PA (father born PA, mother born Ireland), as a farmer living in Truro, Franklin Co., Ohio. In his household are his wife Mary age 58 born in Ireland, son Samuel age 32 born in Ohio, daughter Mary age 18 born in Ohio, son Scott age 21 born in Ohio, and son Elmer age 14 born in Ohio.[6]
