- No birth / baptismal records have been found: The 1901 Census for Henryville, Quebec indicates his birth was December 6th, 1836 while the 1911 census indicates his birth was December 1837. The December 6th, 1837 date agrees with the date inscribed on his tombstone and with the date entered in daughter Helen Josephine KERR's family Bible.
- Church burial records indicate John died on December 8th, 1919 and was buried in the Clarenceville Protestant Cemetery on December 10th, 1919.
